There seems to be quite the emphasis on security these
days. Everywhere you look, there are security guards, locks, barriers, and
restricted access. In most stores there are magnetic detectors at the doors,
to deter shoplifters, and hidden cameras to try and catch them in the act.
It seems that nearly everywhere you go these days, and for everything you
do, an I.D. is required. The events of 9/11, and the Department of Homeland
Security, certainly added to this; but it really on accelerated a developing
trend which was already in place.
